It’s not everyday that you’re relaxing at home reading the Sunday Times, and within a few minutes you’ve taken the decision to travel to the other side of the world and drive a 1950’s style car 2,000 km through ancient tribal forests, wild tiger reserves, hectic cities and the hot arid plains of India.
But that is exactly what happened when we spotted an advert in the Sunday Times motoring section! As a direct result, we will be joining a large team of people from all over the world to take part in the ‘Karma Enduro’ - and play a key role in raising at least £150,000 for good causes.
This includes jointly supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the UK and India, with donations being shared between the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity and Adventure Ashram.
Whilst the event does not take place until October 2008, we are committed to raising at least £8,495 in order to take part, of which a minimum of £2,450 will go to the two charities. Both of us have already pledged personally to cover a large percentage of this target, but we would like to raise significantly more than this to ensure maximum benefit to these two good causes.
At this stage, we would like to ask for your support in helping us meet the challenge, and would welcome any corporate or personal donation that you feel you might be able to make.
We are looking to complete the majority of our fundraising by the end of February 2008, and so we would greatly appreciate any commitment you might be able to make.
We also have a limited number of sponsorship slots available on the car (bonnet, doors & boot etc), and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss attributing one of more of those with you.
There is a wealth of information about the Karma Enduro online, but if you have any questions, then please don’t hesitate to give either of us a call.
We look forward to recieving your donations by either clicking on the "Make A Donation" link below, or if you wish to make a pledge please send either of us an email and we will return a pledge form.
With kind regards
Steve & George

The best of luck to you. (Well published blog Mr.Durban!)
oh spotted a spelling mistake! I before E except after C!!
We've started off well with a brillant response to our first mailer. Already had comments from several recipients wishing to join us on the rally and pledging generous support. In only a week we ahve already accumulated over £2000 but it is going to be a long haul to meet our personal target which must exceed £8500.
A big thanks to those who have pledged to date. We'll be writing to commercial sponsors about placing logo stickers on the vehicle before too long.
George
Even better news as in the last couple of days we have jojntly received further pledges for in excess of £2000. so we are well on the way towrds our target. a BIG Thankyou to all those who have pledged to date George & Steve.
Our band of readers will be pleased to know that we after a mailing in December we have had a great resposnse from our supply base and some generous donations and some revenues from sales of advertising space on the vehicle.
This means we are well on track to raise the £8500 minimum target with several months still to run. Great news!
We should aso mention a number of personal donations which we much appreciate and these have been passed on to the Enduro organisers and will be winging their way towards the good causes in due course.
Many thanks George & Steve
More good news! We have reached and exceeded our target which means more funds for the charities supported. We have planned and orderes the stickers for the car which should look a treat traveling through the foot hills of the mountains in southern India. Well it's not long to go now, the 15th October isn't far away. George and I have been going through the pain of getting our jab's up to date and we are both feeling like pin cushions.
We will endeavour to keep this blog going with more interesting stuff as we approach October and once on the event we will be publishing a daily blog for all of our supporters who can follow our progress.
Once again, many many thanks to all donators especially one recieved recently from the poms in Oz!!
Steve & George
